Hap-pay Hap-pay Hap-pay 6th Birthday Jackson- Duck Dynasty Party

Jackson turned 6 in July. If you know anything about me, you know I LOVE to throw a party. He told us several months ago that he wanted a camo party. Upon further investigation as to what a camo party was, I realized he meant Duck Dynasty. Now you are talking, Jack! (Sorry, I had to...this post may be full of Duck Dynasty talk.)

We decided to have his party at Pump-It-Up. Pump-It-Up is a local inflatable play place here in town. Kids LOVE going to Pump-It-Up. Since we weren't having it at our house, I had to put some personal touches somewhere.
I made camo cupcakes. I found the recipe on Pinterest. It's really not a's totally boxed cake mixes. They turned out adorable though. The kids (and adults) loved them!
The kids wore camo or Duck Dynasty clothes and we gave everyone camo bandanas when they got to the party. These were a hit.
The kiddos had a blast playing on all the bouncy houses.
He had 15 of his best friends from church and school come celebrate his birthday. It was so awesome to realize how blessed we are to have so many amazing kids and their families in our lives.
For the cupcake toppers, I made the Duck Commander crew. We have Willie, Jase, Phil, and of course Uncle Si! (I drew out a template for each guy and made their beards to match them. I was super happy with the way they turned out!)
 I'm a Jase fan...
...Jackson is a fan of Si...
...and Hudson is a fan of cupcakes and icing!
I think it is safe to say the kids had some good redneck fun!
We gave each kid a "Duck Hunters Survival Kit" as they left. It held 1 duck decoy (rubber duck), 1 duck call, and 1 bag of Duck Hunters trail mix (little duck candies mixed with M&Ms).
After the party, we went to my parent's to open presents.
Jackson got so many great things. His favorite presents were his new Bible and his BB gun!
Hudson enjoyed the real Duck Commander duck call (Thanks Mom and Dad for that. He sounds like a sick cow. All. The. Time!) He was very impressed that each Duck Commander duck call is tested before they send it out. He thinks Jase and Si blew his call.
What's the first thing you do when you get a BB gun? Shoot stuff of course. What's the first thing you say if you are the mom of a BB gun toting kid? "Don't shoot your eye out!"
He was so excited he hit the target!
So there you have it. A look into a very hap-pay, hap-pay, hap-pay 6th birthday for one sweet, silly, adorable little boy. We had fun, and that's a fact Jack! (yet again, sorry for the Uncle Si-ism...I couldn't help myself!)

Every Summer Has a Story- Summer 2013

What an amazing summer we have had. For us, school has been in for a week but this was it sweet. I wish I could go back in time and relive it. (Get ready for major picture overload!...buckle up buttercup.)
We started the summer by saying good-bye to a member of the family. We sadly said good-bye to "Rodey" the Rodeo. My car that has seen me through the last 13 years!
...But we brought home this beauty. I am in love! So far she doesn't have a name. Feel free to offer your suggestions.
Plenty of afternoons were spent at Happy Hour (and a few evenings were spent with 1/2 price milkshakes).
We enjoyed story time at the library...
...and Jackson got to go to his first over night church camp. He was even cool with me chaperoning.
We fished at the Bartlett fishing rodeo.
Buddy even came to help us.
We caught 3 fish and a turtle. Yes, a turtle.
Fourth of July was spent watching fireworks and accessorizing with glow sticks!
Jackson turned 6!!! 6!!! I am still trying to figure out how he is 6. He chose to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings.
It's safe to dive into a kiddie pool, right? Ok, it's not a dive...more like a belly flop.
And what do you do after you swim? Take a shower outside with the water hose of course.
We had a fun staycation where we ate our way through Memphis. Central Bar B Q...
...and La Michoacána were our faves! You can't go wrong with Bar B Q nachos and palates!
We wrapped up the summer with a trip to the drive-in. This was a super busy summer but it was one of the best times ever. Fun times spent with my favorite people in the world.
